FORBIDDEN (FOUR)

        Stella locked the door and put the key in her pocket as quickly as she could. He knew he couldn’t hide from her forever and had to face her one of these days. He thought that she was asleep when he tiptoed into the room and was not prepared for it but he sat on the bed anyways and waited for her to say what she had to say. She started towards him and sat close. 

        Rob became uncomfortable. Stella flickered his ears and said jokingly’ I have caught you today…Smart boy’ then laughed. He didn’t say anything and just looked at the woman that she had turned to be. Even though he loved her so much, he was disappointed on how she had handled the situation.

      He stayed quiet but Stella just sat beside him holding his hands so he asked her ‘why did you do it? She looked straight into his face and replied ‘I love you Rob’. He forced a smile and said ‘You should know that it is impossible because you are like a sister’. She snapped and told him ‘Like a sister but fortunately, I am not!’

      She confessed her love to him. And he understood a whole lot of things. Her hatred for Abigail, as well as her outburst whenever people asked if they were really siblings. Rob felt the same way but it was not as easy as it looked.

     He tried to explain that their love was unfeasible. ‘I don’t care, I love you.i have always loved you but you were too daft to notice me’ she screamed then started to cry. He wanted to console her, wanted to hold her but then again he didn’t want to give her the wrong impression or lead her on. She stood up and stormed out of the room.

       A month later, Stella became sick. She threw up on several occasions and complained that she was weak. Abigail visited them and on hearing the symptoms, told Rob that his sister could be pregnant. He became very worried.Abigail began to pry into their affair and this infuriated him. He told her that there was no way his sister could be pregnant but after Abigail left, he called Stella and told her what they could be facing.

        Stella took a pregnancy test later in the day and found out that she was indeed pregnant and it was for someone everybody around thought was a brother. Rob felt very uneasy when Stella finally told him the results of the test. He became scared of what Mr. and Mrs.Quartey would do to them when they found out. He imagined how disappointed they would be because after putting their trust in him to keep their daughter safe, he impregnates her instead.

       He devised a plan he needed to carry out immediately but made her promise that they would keep it a secret in order for them to figure out how they would go about the situation. Stella was confused herself because she didn’t plan to get pregnant. She just wanted his attention but not to lock him down by carrying his baby.

     They stayed together for another week. There was tension between them but they tried to live peacefully. She woke up one morning to a breakfast in bed treatment. He smiled whilst he put the tray on the bed gently then said to her ‘I am sorry for the way I treated you this past week…this is unexpected and I hope you understand how I feel’.
