TRINITY (ONE)

Larry Adjetey was not too happy about what he was going to do but then he believed he had to carry out with the act. He had rehearsed all that had to say to end the relationship. He knew she also didn’t like the fact that he was going to travel and leave her all alone hence had to do what he was about to do.

 Frank his best friend stood beside him shaking his head. He kept wondering why Larry wanted to end it when he claimed that she was his true love. After few minutes of watching him dress up he asked

’’Do you know what you are about to do would change things forever? You can always change your mind you know?"

Larry kept on buttoning his shirt. When he was done, He took one more look at frank who kept looking at him and walked out. He wanted to fly high and anyone who wanted his winds plucked off must get out of his way.

When she opened the door finally to let him in, Larry took in a deep breath. He had been standing by the door close to two minutes and soon became confused. Aku was his true love but the love he once had confidence in was about to end. 

His friend frank had tried to persuade him to override the decision of leaving her. He had his own reason for doing this and never told frank about it. He had dated her for close to two years, But then again he realised he was there to drop a bombshell. 

"You don’t have to do this" his mind kept telling him but it was too late and he sat down .Aku was still standing in front of him so he also got up walked a few steps away and turned his back to her. Aku started to walk towards him and he felt she was about to touch him but before she could reach out to him, he took in a deep breath, cleared his throat and said

 "Aku I think we should break up" he said that so quickly he wondered if she heard him. He had rehearsed this number of times but he couldn’t find the exact words. He wanted to turn and face her but was afraid to see her expression of shock.

Aku was taken aback and tears dripped from her eyes .she didn’t bother to ask why he wanted the break up because it was obvious. It was true she didn’t like the idea that he wanted to travel out when he was doing so fine here in Ghana but that was not the only reason. 

She had been through this before and it was like watching her life being replayed all over again. She would rather lose him here than have him travel and call her later that he had found someone else and was sorry for raising her hopes.

He couldn’t take the silence anymore so turned to take one look at her before he left. Aku wiped the tears and stared at him as if to say something. For Larry he felt that Aku was still into her ex-boyfriend who she had introduced to her parents but had kept him in the dark when it was his turn. 

They only knew him as a close friend and that bothered him. He never got the reason why she failed to introduce him since it was over between them. She couldn’t give him any tangible reason but always told him that the parents were fond of her ex which made him more jealous.

Larry with his master’s degree in engineering had always wanted to join a greater force and he felt he could achieve his aim by traveling to London. When he told her about his plans she objected. They were both doing so well but Larry didn’t want to be held down and Aku didn’t want to reason with him because he didn’t know when he was going to return.

 Initially he had wanted to go there first and establish himself then later invite her over so they can get married in London.Aku had other plans and none was willing to compromise their decision, hence the break-up

. When he got to the doorway, and looked back once again as if to say goodbye since they were soon going to be old memories, Larry took a final glance of her. When their eyes met, she had dried up the tears in her eyes and rather with a smirk on her face told him

"You see these tears…..this is all you will get because I will not shed any tear for you or any other man ever again" then smiled at herself .Anger glinted in her eyes."have a safe trip to wonderland" she added with contempt in her voice.
