ENTANGLED SERIES FOUR

      The next morning Leticia felt Shika was pulling away from her so she confronted her immediately.Shika didn’t want to argue so told her that she was just tired. Leticia went on to tell her about her date with Kwame and Naa Shika flared up "what the hell are you talking about. If you go to that so called diner I will…..Leticia cut in…."wait a minute, who are you to tell me where and who to go out with. You have no right do you hear me.?" Before she could finish the sentence Shika had already stormed out of the room.

       She wanted to talk to Kwame but what is the use of talking to somebody who couldn’t remember who has been with before she thought. She went straight to her room and saw him lying down.he was not asleep his look was indifferent. She went ahead to sit beside him on the bed. He didn’t move but kept on looking at her. She smiled and greeted and asked him how he was doing. Before he could say anything she turned and kissed him.

          "We had something going on?" He asked. She answered affirmatively then he continued "I am sorry if I made you feel bad… why didn’t you tell me anything….i was beginning to make passes at Leticia" then he laughed and said "it feels like I know her but I can’t figure out where I met her."Shika now told him everything about Leticia and why they came up to the room together the other day.

        He apologized again and Shika told him how shocked she was when she heard the news about him that fateful day. She even showed him the letter he wrote to her. She had kept it in her bag all this time so she can show it to him whenever she got the chance. His headache came back and he screamed out loud. The pain was unbearable. Perhaps he was coming back to his senses. Shika wished for that to happen soon.

         She rushed out and called the doctor on duty. He examined Kwame and asked him to rest some more. As soon as he left Shika followed but met Leticia by the doorway. She stood there and blocked the doorway so she couldn’t pass. Then told her Kwame was sleeping. Leticia shook her head and turned to leave but like she was giving it a second thought turned again and pushed Shika away from the door.

           The doctor got there in time to stop whatever was going to happen. He told Leticia to allow Nana Kwame to rest and asked Naa Shika to follow him to his office. He asked her what the problem between the both of them but she wouldn’t budge. He decided to leave them alone since none was willing to corporate.

          Kwame who had been sent home was bored to death just after two days. He didn’t know what to do since the major part of his time was spent at the hospital helping the sick to heal. He decided to go out but heard the honk of a car and was glad that he showed up when he did. It was Yaw Agyepong. He came to visit him knowing too well how bored he would be at home all by himself.

        When he got close he hugged and gave him a pat at his back. Kwame felt he knew the reason why he was there….to bombard him with questions. Even though he was happy to see him, he was not too sure he wanted to answer any of his questions. They both went indoors and Kwame sat on the couch whilst Yaw went to the bar and helped himself with the cognac he found then joined him on the couch.

     "Start talking" he said as he sat down beside him. Nana Kwame just looked at him sip the cognac and just smiled. Yaw was little bit disappointed because his best friend didn’t tell him anything about his recent escapades. His life was too boring because as far as Yaw knew, Nana kwame had been holding on to some love that was never bound to be possible…or at least that was what he told him.

      Kwame told him how he had gotten himself trapped in web. It was love web and just when he fallen for Shika’s good looks, his one true love came up from nowhere. He told yaw how brushing shika aside just for Leticia was going to difficult. Then understood what the whole hullabaloo in the office was about. He wished he could say something to make him to feel good but there was nothing he could say and most importantly he didn’t want to be the one to choose for him since its matters of the heart.

        Yaw held him by the shoulder and said "I know you will make the right decision and take the right girl. He continued…"just study the two very well and like we always say appearance can be deceptive". They watched game together and soon Yaw’s wife Linda called so he had to leave. Unlike his friend who was single, he had been married for five years now and has two kids with his nagging wife. Even though he deeply loved his wife there were times he felt it was way too much for him to bear.

          Linda would complain about his coming home very late in the night and not eating her food although she knew how tedious his work at the hospital was. it had become  daily routine but since he had gotten use to the fact that she may not stop this attitude he decided to live with it and try not to get her in that mood. He hurriedly said goodbye to his friend and asked that he didn’t worry and everything was definitely going to fall into place.

    

ENTANGLED SERIES THREE

  When she finally gathered impulse to talk she said "its a joke right?".Yaw was becoming impatient. He was not feeling too good about his friend’s condition and was not in any mood to answer but he said "no joke…looks like he is really stressed out. He was complaining of headaches yesterday so I went to his house this morning to check up on him …only for him to say he didn’t remember who I was. Can you imagine? He really needs to rest"

    Naa Shika couldn’t just believe it. It was like a dream, one she wanted to get out of immediately. She wanted to see him badly but the thought that he wouldn’t recognize her made her more worried and confused. She kept on in her head how this could be possible. Someone she was chatting with just the other day…now wouldn’t be able to recognize her. It was amazing. She decided to wait for him to get up so she can go and talk to him.

        The more she thought about it the worse her day got. She hid in the washroom and cried her eyes out. She heard one of the nurses say that he was up but his condition had not changed. This made her even sadder. Some of the nurses gathered and said a prayer for him. Everybody in the hospital felt bad for him because they knew he was a good doctor and one of the best in the hospital.

       When everybody returned to post, a stunning lady in a nurse uniform walked in. She was tall and slender and was fair so got attention and some nurses stopped to look at the beautiful young lady.Naa Shika’s attention got to the lady and when she saw her face, her heart sank in…..it was Leticia James! The lady that embarrassed Nana Kwame.They all studied the same profession. Nana Kwame had fallen in love with her back in school and seeing her there at this moment came as a shock. It looked like she was in for surprises that day.

    Leticia smiled when she saw her. They knew each other but were not very close .Shika didn’t want to be rude so went to welcome her into the hospital like the other ladies had done already. She had also been transferred .Leticia told her how glad she was to have met her. The thought of making new friends all over again bothered her. After they talked for a while Leticia let her in on a secret…it was the reason why she had been transferred. Apparently she dated a doctor in her old hospital but the relationship turned sore since she got to know that he was just using her. 

           The man was dating two other nurses and three of his patients while dating her too. She felt so used and didn’t want to be in the same hospital so asked to be transferred. The conversation lasted for a while as Naa Shika also told her about the people in the hospital, which doctors were friendly and which ones she was to avoid in order not to repeat the incidence that happened to her.

         Leticia asked her if she was the only one from KNUST who was in the hospital. She didn’t want to tell her about Kwame but she was going to eventually find out so she told her then she asked "which Nana Kwame?" with disdain in her expression.Shika wanted to tell her off but she maintained her composure.

       The same Nana Kwame you humiliated! He is one of the best doctors we have in this hospital.. Shika continued. She wanted to tell Leticia that she was dating him but that would be difficult to believe since he remembered nothing. So there was no need for her to know immediately. "I didn’t think I was ever going to meet him again…I still feel sorry for him. i will  ask that he forgives me when I see him around" leticia said.

       Naa Shika said nothing at this point but hoped that Kwame would just forgive her so they can continue with their lives. She had a feeling Leticia's presence will sabotage her peaceful relationship with Kwame, but she wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt because so far Leticia had been nice. She showed Leticia her working space and when she finally settled in she asked her where Kwame was and she was anxious to see him.

       She even told her she had forgotten how he looked back then. Then it occurred to Shika that she had not told Leticia about his predicament. When she told her ,Leticia was appalled but still insisted to see him. Her insistence got on Shika’s nerves but she took her to see him anyway.

         She told Leticia what  Dr. Yaw Agyapong had told her and how shocked she also was. Shika went into the room first and Kwame turned to look at her then Leticia also came in and when he saw her, he smiled.Naa Shika’s heart skipped a beat. Why would he smile at Leticia and not her .She got infuriated but didn’t say anything.

        Then Kwame said "Wow….we have beautiful ladies in this hospital"shika was too angry to listen and instantly Yaw walked in and said to Kwame "I see you have met the new girl…she is Leticia James" Kwame held his head and told them he felt a sharp pain in the head when the name was mentioned. It was as if he knew that name.Yaw told him not to worry his head over it because he would soon be okay." You should know Naa Shika…you two were close..i don’t know how close though’’ Yaw giggled.

         Shika excused herself and left and Leticia followed. When she caught up with her she exclaimed "My gosh…he has grown to be very handsome’’Shika took one look at her an walked on. Leticia wondered why she was being so uptight about this. She walked to her desk and attended to patients. She made up her mind to visit him frequently since she noticed that her being there had an effect on him and that might help him to remember other things.

         Naa shika went over to Kwame’s room to check up on him before leaving the hospital. When she got close to the door, she heard him laughing, so she peeped through the door hole to see who was making him laugh like that. What she saw made her heart boil.Leticia was with him. She was sitting on his bed and they were chatting like they had been friends for a long time. Shika knew at this moment that there was not going to be peace between Leticia and herself.

        Leticia came up from nowhere and now wants to compete with her for his love. She thought so because of the way she looked at him after not seeing him for so many years. She saw her as a threat to her relationship because Kwame had confessed to her how he really felt about Leticia then. what she didn’t know was If he was still going to feel something for her.

ENTANGLED SERIES TWO

     They both had a wonderful time together and soon it was morning. He dragged himself out of bed and went straight to the bathroom.Naa Shika was lying on the bed half naked. She was still sleeping. When he came back from the bathroom he stopped to admire her features. She was indeed an African woman he thought and giggled. She laid flat on her back and Kwame could see the curves.

      The sheets were off her so he could see her flat tummy and shapely legs. He needed to get out before he was tempted to stay and leave the next day. Since he got there she had been able to persuade him to stay till this time. When he was ready to leave he left her a note saying he had to take care of some things in his house and would call her later.

          She was disappointed that she didn’t get the chance to say goodbye with a kiss. She really liked him and for some reason, she didn’t know  why she was feeling like this. She felt the need to be with him again so decided to call but on second thought Naa Shika didn’t want him to think that she was pushing herself on him. She would wait for his call. She slept the whole day and wondered what he could be doing.

         She had to work on Monday and made plans in her mind to get the transfer she was holding back. She wanted to have him close. After all the she was supposed to go there even before she met him. Nana Kwame called her late afternoon as promised and they chatted into the night and she told him about the transfer. Nana Kwame was surprised by the sudden need for her transfer and knew where this would be going to.

         It was obvious what she wanted and he was not sure if he could give her the love and attention she was craving for. He was attracted to her but he didn’t think it was love. He didn’t blame her because if he had stood on his grounds and said no to her it would have changed things. He would keep his fingers crossed and see what happens.

       The next week Naa Shika was supposed to be in her new hospital. She was so anxious that she couldn’t sleep the better part of the night. She only slept at 4 in the morning and when she woke up she was running late .“Gosh I’m late” she told herself, as she sped on the way to the hospital, the hospital was two miles away and she was late! So much for first impressions! Her pager wouldn’t stop beeping.

        She finally entered the driveway to the hospital, and exhaled in relief. She hurried down the hall ways of the hospital and Bumps into Nana Kwame. What a start to my shift, I’m late and here I’m bumping into him". She thought “First day at work, are you nervous?"he said teasingly. Nervous??? Ha! Don’t let me laugh; I’m just getting warmed up ! she replied and  They both laughed.Just then they heard Help! Help!! Help!!! Is this not a hospital?? They both rushed to the emergency ward, a man has been shot! Looked like an armed robbery attack. A nurse picks the phone to alert the doctor on duty, but saw Nana and stopped.

          Nana Kwame said ‘I got this!’  But he’s lost too much blood, he hoped the bullet didn’t hit an artery. The man seemed to be in so much pain, the nurse alerts Naa Shika and said ‘Give him 100milligrams of morphine, it would help with the pain’. ‘Sir Sir can you hear me?’Shika asked the man who was lying on the hospital bed half dead. We are losing him, we have to operate on him now, he’s bleeding internally,’ Let’s see, let’s see, we have got to stop the bleeding, one more nurse joins them "Doctor he’s heart rate is dropping"the nurse said, a shot of epinephrine would do just the trick, Nana Kwame said immediately.

         After the shot he was still bleeding uncontrollable. We have to take him to the operating room now. He was yelling now. But Naa Shika reminded him that his heart rate was above the normal range, operating on him would kill him. Gosh the epinephrine did him more harm than good, Naa Shika stood there blank, as her heart raced.Her first day was turning out to be bad and she didn’t like the feeling.

       Naa Shika! Naa Shika!! He’s crushing! Nana Kwame instructing the nurses on what to do was echoing in her head, the heart rate monitor made the sound that stuck in her head like a migraine .we’ve lost him, now I have to go tell his wife. Naa Shika dashes out of the operating room. She heard him call out the time of death. She felt very bad that her first day had been ruined.

         There you are? Nana Kwame said as he walks towards her!.. I hope you are okay he asked. Just then he heard "Charle, the wife is waiting!".Yaw, a college of Nana Kwame shouts down the hallway.Nana Kwame told her he had to leave. Naa Shika nods and smiles, there you go, we should see more of those every day, I’ve got to go now! So I’ll call you!..Yaw slaps the back of Nana Kwame’s head," Fool what did you say about my wife to Esther the other day?" He laughed out loud and shook his head and said "You don’t want to know" .They both walked away and Naa Shika also left to find her new office. She prayed silently that she would be okay in her new place.

        The rest of the week was not what she had expected. They didn’t have time to even chat,just the occasional hello and gestures they exchanged. And by the time they both close they were too tired to have a normal conversation. This went on for about two weeks and Shika felt that Nana Kwame was avoiding her so she decided to confront him.

        She barged in his office but there was nobody in his office at that moment. He smiled when he saw her and that reduced her anger." Why do I have the feeling that you are avoiding me'" she said abruptly. This made him laugh out loud. He was laughing so hard that it infuriated her. "And what is funny?" she asked." You should see your face…anyway you look really beautiful when you are angry". Kwame teased She was smiling now.

       They stayed in his office for close to fifteen minutes and were interrupted by a patient.Naa Shika left him to continue her usual duties but they had planned to hook up later in the evening. She was pleased she went to the office to talk to him. The hospital was very busy as usual as patients trooped in and out. By the close of the day she was very tired and worn out but there was no way she was going to miss an evening with Nana Kwame.

         Nana kwame went to her apartment behind schedule. He went home to take a shower but didn’t have dinner because apparently Naa Shika had asked him what he wanted for dinner. He knew that somehow shika had started a relationship in her mind and it was his fault because he had led her on to believe that.

      He had no girlfriend so he found nothing wrong with dating her since he found her attractive. They spent the rest of the evening dinning chit –chatting and cuddling. They laid on the couch and soon Naa Shika fell asleep in his arms. He looked at her .she had round cheeks, her eyebrows shaped nicely with big brown eyes.Naa Shika revealed a clean set of white teeth every time she smiled. She slept peacefully and he felt that there was a chance that she might capture his heart.

          He carried her to her bed and covered her with blanket. He went back to the couch to watch the sports channel and soon he also fell asleep.Naa Shika woke him up at 2am and beckoned him into the bedroom. He had left the television on so she put if off. Nana Kwame told her he felt a shape pain in his head and she told him it that was because of the way he laid down on the couch. They slept in each other’s arms. Kwame didn’t sleep well.

        He kept on turning and tossing but Shika was fast asleep.Shika woke up the next morning and found a note that read "i have a terrible headache. Its been like this for the past few days.I think its migraine and I couldn’t sleep well, need to get home and rest. i didn’t want to wake  you up. Would see you at the office later in the day. Take care. Kwame.’

           He had complained about the headache but she didn’t think it was this serious. When she finally got to the hospital she met two nurses by the door way talking. They became quiet when they saw her approaching and that made her wonder what they were chit chatting about. Dr Yaw Agyapong who was Nana Kwame’s friend advanced towards her direction

            He told Naa Shika ”Kwame has suffered  short spell of amnesia, a sedative has been administered in hopes of restoring his memory….please be patient  if he doesn’t remember you".Naa Shika froze. She didn’t know what to do. Her imagination was running wild. He just left my house  few hours ago she thought to herself. She laughed out loud at the thought that they were trying to play a prank on her but Yaw just looked on. Just then her face changed. Shika was shocked to the bone.

ENTANGLED SERIES ONE

The music was so loud she could hardly hear what he was saying. She had left to the club because she was bored. He went on babbling about how beautiful she looked. She just looked at him and occasionally smiled. He was cute she thought.In fact that was the only reason why she was sitting next to him. She was fascinated only at tall handsome men and the man looked a little bit like her type.

             She thought she could put up with the way he kept on about how wonderful and sexy she looked but he kept repeating himself and soon the conversation became boring. She wanted to leave badly but didn’t want to be rude. She got up to leave with the excuse of going to the bathroom. When she got in, she added a little more make up to look good and when she finally got out she edged away from where the man could see her.

               When she got to the door, her lip gloss fell so she knelt down to pick it up but bumped into someone when she got up and it fell again .'don’t  just stand there gawping, help her 'his inner man said but before he could she was already up. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw his face and apologized quickly .she walked on but felt the man was still looking at her so she turned and she had been right because he was still glaring at her.

          ‘I think I know you miss ‘he said then walked towards her direction ‘are you not Naa shika’ he asked. The answer yes came very fast but she couldn’t recall where they had met. ‘Well I am Nana Kwame  Efia’s older brother…….KNUST?….Ok the dude that got slapped by the famous Leticia James.’ He was smiling and she now remembered him.

        Well actually everybody could recall that incidence since it involved the stunning Leticia James.she had won the miss KNUST that year and some guy wanted to get close but the girl who was known to be very rude slapped the innocent boy and he was not so lucky because the school’s entertainment reporter was there and recorded the incidence so everybody heard about it. The recorded video circulated the whole semester.’oh yeah, wow you are really looking handsome…..you changed a lot’

            He told her that after the experience with the girl he became very popular in a positive way and they laughed about it. They were still standing at the doorway then the man who had been talking to her came by and stood beside Naa shika .she became uncomfortable. The man asked who he was and she answered immediately saying that he was her boyfriend. Nana kwame was taken aback and the man looked disappointed but excused himself and went out of the club.

           Naa shika apologized and told him how the man bored her and how she needed to get away from him. He laughed and said ‘would my girlfriend care to join me in the club?....i promise not to tell her how incredible she looks in this dress’’ Naa shika smiled and she allowed him to hold her hand back into the club.  They talked into the night and enjoyed each other’s company very well. At 3 am when they decided to go home, they got out of the club only to see that the sky was overcast and it had begun to sleet and  saw forked lightening as the storm got closer .she offered to take him home since he had no car.

            Nana Kwame was a doctor and he lived at Adabraka.His BMW car was faulty so he came to the club with a taxi.Naa Shika on the other hand was also a nurse but lived at Dansoman and both worked in different private hospitals. On the road to Adabraka however, a tree was blown down to a gale so they couldn’t drive past it. So she offered to take him to her house so he could leave the next morn since it was very late. 

          Apparently Naa shika was supposed to be transferred to where Nana Kwame was working and she didn’t want to move because she felt more comfortable at where she was and moving to a new hospital was a big change for her but now she had a reason to work at this new hospital.   She stole a glance at him. He was very handsome. Nana Kwame was dark and he had a clean shaving with a receding hairline and thick bushy eyebrows. She smiled at him and he smiled back. They drove quietly to her house in Dansoman. She helped him to settle in the guest room.

           He complimented her on how she had decorated her apartment nicely. It was a two bedroom house , she lived in one and saved the other room for friends who visited her occasionally. She left him in the room and went to hers. She felt the need to keep him company but at the same time didn’t want him to think she was pushing herself on him.

          Nana Kwame stood up and looked around he was really impressed compared to how shabby his place looked. He didn’t have time to clean up because he virtually lived in the hospital. His job as a doctor was what he dreamt for so had no problem when it takes him away from home.In fact there was nobody at home to go to. It was raining heavily now and he felt cold. It was about 4pm now and Naa shika left the room fifteen minutes ago so he wondered if she was already asleep because there was no blanket in the room.

          He got out of the room and went straight to her door. He knocked but there was no response. He tried again but didn’t hear anything. He stood there contemplating as to whether to go inside or not. He waited for a while and turned the door knot. It was not locked so he went inside. She laid on the bed…naked or so he thought. She didn’t move so he figured she was asleep. So he turned to leave but then heard her asking “what do you want?”he turned to look at her.

       She was wearing a see through lingerie. It was so transparent his heart skipped a beat. She looked really beautiful and had an incredible body. He started to say something but couldn’t find the words to express why he came to her room. She kept looking at him. Then pulled the sheets that covered her legs aside. He became more nervous.Naa Shika got up and walked towards him. She got so close he held his breath.

      Then she kissed him. She asked again but he didn’t say anything he just looked at her. She held him and kissed again. He went back a little but didn’t leave the room so she felt he was just being shy. She held his hand and led him to her bed. He couldn’t resist the temptation. The weather was also very cold……he couldn’t make up his mind.

          The next morning, Nana Kwame woke up very late but found Naa Shika up and smiling. She was looking at him while he slept. He immediately felt uncomfortable and she giggled and said ”you are handsome” he forced a smile. He felt guilty for not telling her the reason why he came to her room. It was obvious it was too late now. She was beautiful but he didn’t feel anything for her. She seemed happy and content so he didn’t want to change the mood .he decided to play along so she wouldn’t feel hurt.

          They ate breakfast together. It was 9am in the morning and since it was a Saturday and he has not been called to the hospital, he figured there was not much to be done there. Naa Shika was off at work so she had time to rest and entertain her guest. He wanted to leave early but she wouldn’t let him.

          she told him to stay so he eats lunch before going to his own house. He agreed to wait for her to cook. She was indeed a good host. He was beginning to feel at home since he could now talk openly to her. After lunch Naa Shika again persuaded him to stay a little longer. Before he knew it was too dark to go home. They had spent the rest of the day chatting about each other's lives. When and where they each grew up and the things they both went through to succeed in life.

          They both came from a broken home and so they discussed how it had affected them. Nana Kwame and Naa Shika stayed up till it was very late. He got up to sleep in the room he was offered when he came in the previous day but she wouldn’t let him. As they sat on the couch she whispered in his ears’’ you are mine for the rest of the night .that turned him on immediately but wondered if he was still doing the right thing

          The first time was a mistake he believed but doing it again the second time would mean something else. He wanted to fight the edge to go to tell her off but another part of him wanted her badly and he let that part win. She held Nana Kwame by the hand and led him to her bedroom.
